Jammu is the winter capital of Jammu & Kashmir and the traditional gateway to the Himalayas, spread across the banks of the river Tawi. Known as the "City of Temples," it is home to hundreds of shrines, including the revered Raghunath Temple and Bahu Fort overlooking the water. It also serves as the base town for pilgrims heading to the Vaishno Devi shrine in the nearby Trikuta hills.
Beyond its religious significance, Jammu offers a warmer, plains-like climate that makes it a comfortable year-round stop, along with old-city bazaars, colonial-era architecture, and easy rail and road connectivity to the rest of the region.
